Stay active indoors this winter
CADAS has been a partner in Active Cumbria’s ‘Walking for Health’ project for quite a while now. They have trained our staff and volunteers to lead short group walks for people of any level of fitness in Barrow, Workington, Carlisle and Kendal.
However, most of these walks cannot run at the moment and some of the other ways that people get their exercise – like organised team sport and exercise classes are also off-limits possibly for the next six months. The swimming pools have opened again but access is more limited and you have to book ahead. You may be someone who likes to run, cycle or walk – when the weather’s nice – but as the calendar flips over to October and the nights draw in that may also be less appealing.
But exercise is so important for our mental health – and keeping ourselves mentally strong is more important than it’s ever been, with the future uncertain and social contact difficult – so we can’t just stop altogether!
That’s why it’s so great that Active Cumbria have brought together some of the best exercise ideas out there for keeping active in and around your home. Follow the links for whatever you’re looking for. There are lots of links to live classes or videos or just tips on what you can do for yourself.
