At CADAS we offer support to young people (aged 10 or over) and adults who would like help with managing their substance use – whether that is to cut down on the amount that they are using or to stop altogether or even to get help with maintaining abstinence from alcohol or drugs – and also to young people or adults who are struggling to cope with the substance use of someone that they live with or care for.
If you feel that you would like help to change your own use of alcohol or drugs, or you would like help in coping with someone else’s substance use, you can call our Helpline on 0800 2 54 56 58, from 11am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and talk to one of our trained Recovery Coaches. They will ask you a little about your situation and pass your details on to someone who will call you for a Care Assessment and Plan meeting.
The aim of this meeting is to help you decide what kind of support is most suitable for your current situation. There are weekly support groups, one-to-one sessions and different wellbeing activities to choose from – as well as the option of getting help from another service altogether if that is a better first step for you. There may also be resources on our website that would be useful to help with your situation.
Please note that, if you are over 18, you have to make this call yourself. You cannot be referred in by a support worker, keyworker, family member or friend unless you need someone to advocate for you because of a particular barrier or need. We do need to talk to you directly. This is because we need to know that you really do want our help.
Clients between the ages of 10 and 18 can be referred in by a responsible adult, with the child or young person’s consent. There is no waiting list for our Young People’s Service. So, if the young person is suitable for service, their details will be passed straight to one of our support workers.
Referrals can also be started by emailing us at any time of the day. A support worker will then ring back to take your details during Helpline hours (11am to 6pm). Please make sure you leave us the right phone number to contact you back on and have your telephone ready to answer.
