Understanding and Working with Addictive Behaviours

This award-winning 14-week course is designed for anyone intending to work 1-1 with clients in our Adult Recovery Service. Over 14 full days and a mid-term and end-of-term assessment, volunteers will develop their skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Building relationships, rapport and empathy
  • Working within an ethical framework
  • Self-awareness and reflection
  • Use of a range of therapeutic models and techniques from Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Mindfulness

and have plenty of time to practise their therapeutic skills.

Trainees are carefully assessed for their suitability for this course. They must be willing to commit to a challenging journey of self-discovery and willing and able to volunteer their time working 1-1 with our clients for at least a year after completing the training.
